Albumen photograph in sepia of the Assyrian court.
The front of the Nineveh Court designed by Sir Henry Layard showing the winged bulls, huge sculptures with crowned heads, eagles wings and the bodyof a wild bull representing spiritual guardians. They have five legs each, and can be interpreted as standing or walking. The court was located in the north end of Crystal Palace and was destroyed by fire on 31st December 1866.
